The European Commission is seeking farmers’ views in a new survey on a range of issues relating to unfair trading practices (UTPs) in the agri food supply chain.

A key question in the survey asks farmers if current laws offer them protection from unfair trading practices from buyers of their produce.

It asks farmers if they have received payment later than 30 days for perishable foods and later than 60 days for other food products.

It asks if farmers have experienced short-notice order cancellations for foods and if there has been changes to supply contracts from buyers.

Regular experiences

Farmers are asked how often an unfair trading practice occurred, for example if they occurred between 20% and 40% of transactions in 2020.

Those taking part in the survey are asked if COVID-19 had any impact on the frequency of UTPs.

Farmers who want to take part in the survey can do so here.
