Crops & Spreaders 2019 will take place in Teagasc Oak Park on 26 June and the focus of this year’s event is achieving accurate and even fertiliser spreading. The event encompasses a demonstration area which forms part of the biennial Teagasc Oak Park open day.
A number of the country’s top fertiliser spreader brands will take part in the demonstration. Here, the Irish Farmers Journal and Teagasc commentary team will focus on the key features of each spreader such as disc vanes and drop points, setting bout widths, headland management, GPS controls and much more.
Attendees will also see the spreaders operate in a demo area and see a live video feed from the cab. As well as the fertiliser spreaders, many other aspects of fertiliser spreading will be discussed on the day.
Oak Park forms the heart of Irish crop research and attendees have the opportunity to see the latest Teagasc research. Researchers and advisers will be on hand to discuss the key points from numerous research and knowledge transfer programmes. Topics which will be covered include pest, weed and disease control strategies, nutrient management, loss of CTL, IPM and GHG emissions.
As usual, there will be an array of trade stands present on the day. Given the evolving challenges facing the tillage sector, This is an event not to be missed.
