Deforestation continues to increase in Brazil, with the latest data from Brazil’s national institute of space research saying that 405km2 of the Amazon was cleared in April of this year.

It also reports that deforestation is up over 50% year on year, with over 1,200km2 cleared to date.Over 1,000,000ha of the Amazon was deforested in 2019. It was the first time that deforestation passed the 1m hectares mark.
