The deadlines for spreading chemical fertiliser and slurry have been extended by two weeks. Chemical fertiliser can now be spread until 30 September and slurry until 30 October.
Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed made the announcement at Tullamore Show last Sunday, and said the move was to help farmers promote grass growth after drought conditions.
Farm organisations and contractors had been calling for an extension for a number of weeks.
