1. Linnane’s Lobster Bar
linnanesbar.com
The Burren in Co Clare is a favourite summertime road trip destination for many, and what better way to top off a day taking in the sights than with a lobster dinner right on the Wild Atlantic Way? Linnane’s Lobster Bar is found in New Quay and offers an enticing mix of atmosphere, hospitality and great food.
Their grilled New Quay lobster is served with fresh salad greens and perfectly crisp roast potatoes – the whole dish is a delight. While you’re there, don’t forget an order of their ultra-buttery garlic crab claws and finish off your feast with their homemade lemon posset served with raspberries and shortbread crumb.

2. Moran’s Oyster Cottage
moransoystercottage.com
You’ll find this gorgeous pub and seafood restaurant where the Dunkellin and Clarenbridge rivers meet in Co Galway. Famously known for their oysters, Moran’s also features an array of fresh Irish seafood on their menu – think chilli coconut prawns, market fish and chips and creamy, indulgent chowder.
As nice as those options are, it would be a crime to visit Moran’s and not indulge in some oysters. They offer a tasting platter of both native and gigas (locally cultivated) oysters and we love their grilled oysters topped with garlic breadcrumbs.

3. The Fish Basket

Locals and holidaymakers in west Cork all have one thing in common: when the sun’s out, they flock to The Fish Basket on Long Strand Beach in Owenahincha. Operated by Peter and Elaine Shanahan, here you’ll find a relaxed vibe, friendly service and – most importantly – great food, all served up amidst the stunning scenery of the west Cork coastline.
Elaine is well-known for her home-baked goods, so after indulging in some tasty fish tacos or their classic fish and chips, finish off your meal with a slice of her chocolate Guinness cake.

4. And Chips

You might know chef Eunice Power from her regular television appearances and 2025 cookbook My Irish Kitchen Table, but in her Dungarvan, Co Waterford locality she is just as well known for her takeaway, And Chips, which has been serving the community since 2020. And Chips is a gourmet takeaway which sources local seafood and potatoes, adds plenty of spice and seasoning to their menu offerings and makes a variety of dipping sauces in house.
Her take on everyone’s favourite Irish spice bag uses fresh, local fish tossed in a secret blend of spices, sautéed onions and peppers and is served with a hefty dose of tartare sauce on the side. We’re still thinking about it.

5. Murphy’s Bar

If you’ve ever visited Murphy’s Bar in Brandon, Co Kerry, you’ll understand what we mean when we say it feels like you are having a pint on the edge of the earth. Located on the Dingle Peninsula, the ocean-front locale is one of the most beautiful settings on the island of Ireland.
Scenery aside, the pub itself is largely considered one of the best in the country, serving up perfectly poured pints of local beer and Guinness. They offer a cracking menu featuring plenty of fresh seafood (try their crisp fried scampi or tasty monkfish tacos). It’s the perfect spot to while away a summer afternoon – just make sure you bring a designated driver, because public transport in this part of the world is sparse.
