UK milk production for March came in at 1.35bn litres, which is 7% ahead of the same month last year. This brings UK milk production for the first quarter of 2019 to 3.75bn litres, which is more than 5% ahead of the same period last year.

With drought conditions hitting South Africa, the forecast for South African maize production in 2019 has been cut to 10.6m tonnes, according to government figures. In 2018, South Africa produced almost 16.8m tonnes of maize.

Argentinian beef exports for March stood at just under 32,120t, which is 16% ahead of the same month last year. This brings Argentinian beef exports for the first quarter of 2019 (Jan-Mar) to a cumulative 97,165t, which is 33% ahead of the same period last year.

Australian live exports of cattle for the first three months of 2019 stood at 271,000 head, according to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA). This is more than 20% ahead of the same period last year, but below the record live exports in 2016.
