Mullingar International CSI** show

There is a packed schedule of show jumping and showing classes at Mullingar International CSI** this weekend (3 - 6 June). With a total prize fund of €100,000, the show highlights include the Pegus Puissance, Devenish Bet Show Jumping Live, Pro Am pairs relays, International Grand Prix, leading young rider, working hunter,showing, sportsmans and up to 70 national classes, which start from 60cms up to the top level. This year also sees the introduction of the Koro D’Or’ three-year-old select performance competition and sale, which will take place on Saturday evening.

Belgian win for Harley

Donegal’s Gavin Harley (20) won the Young Rider Grand Prix at the international show in Opglabbeek, Belgium, last weekend aboard the 12-year-old stallion Understone Van De Kapel. The only Irish rider in the 42 starters, Harley produced a perfect double clear to clinch the honours.

Twomey in Rome top 10

At the Italian five-star show in Rome last weekend, Cork’s Billy Twomey finished eighth in the Longines Grand Prix.

Twomey lowered one fence in the opening round with Diaghilev, but their fast time saw them advance to the 13-horse jump-off. Twomey went clear second time out to finish in eighth behind American winner McLain Ward on HH Azur.

Meanwhile, victory in the Rome Nations Cup went to Britain for the second year in a row on four faults from America and France on 12 each and Germany on 14 faults.
