The first production sale of the Hogan family’s Rathnashan Simmental herd took place on the sales platform pedigreesalesonline.co.uk over the weekend with prices topping at €10,000. The sale offered every heifer born in the herd over the autumn 2019 and spring 2020 season.

Securing the top price was Rathnashan Lettuce P. This October 2019 born heifer is a daughter of PHS Polled Worldwide and out of one of the herd’s foundation females Curaheen Golda P, herself a daughter of Tiset Darwin. A number of keen buyers at the auction quickly rose the price before the time eventually ran out and a CL Graham was announced as the successful bidder.

Overall the sale proved a huge success with the 11 young heifers averaging at €5,636.
