I see the UK is to introduce a 260,000t tariff-free cane sugar quota from 1 January.

I also noticed that David Davis, a member of the British Conservative Party and Secretary of State for Exiting the EU from 2016 to 2018, worked at Tate & Lyle for 17 years. Tate & Lyle is well known for its golden syrup and uses cane sugar to produce its products.

British Sugar produced approximately 1.2m tonnes of sugar each year from UK sugar beet in recent times.
