A suspected case of wild bird flu in Co Clare has now been confirmed. This is the third positive wild bird finding in Ireland this year.
The H5N6 flu strain was found in a white tailed sea eagle that was found dead on Cribby Island, Mountshannon, Co. Clare on 6 March 2018.
In the last five days there has also been one outbreak of H5N8 in a laying hen flock in northern Italy.

The advice from the Department of Agriculture to flock owners is still to remain vigilant to the threat of avian influenza and take specific measures to protect their flocks, including minimising access to wild birds by feeding poultry indoors.
