Tillage farmers in the worst weather-affected areas of the country are working dangerous hours as they race to get their crops planted this spring.

Farmers are working into the early hours of the morning and, in some cases, through the night to complete field work.

This poses significant health and safety concerns as the farmer operating the tractor and seed drill may be the only person working in that field. As fatigue sets in, concentration will begin to slip and this is where accidents can happen. While not always possible, farmers are urged to avoid this situation as one accident may cost a lot more than not finishing a field.
