The Minister for Agriculture expects the new AgNav for tillage tool to “tell the story” of Irish grain to help with international trade.
Minister Martin Heydon officially launched the greenhouse gas calculator for tillage at the Crops and Technology event at Oakpark, Co Carlow, which was held partnership with the Irish Farmers Journal.
Minister Heydon encouraged all farmers to engage with AgNav, saying it will “strengthen all of the tools” open to farms.

“[AgNav] is like what the Wild Atlantic Way did for tourism. We’re not re-inventing the wheel, we’re telling the story about something that exists already,” he said.

“This great way that farmers operate in the tillage sector; the positive impact from an environmental perspective and the innovation and science they have brought about, but if you don’t measure something, you can’t tell the story.
“This is about getting a baseline element in that all farmers in the tillage sector can record their carbon and how they operate.”
