A 20ac field of top-notch land has come on the market at Barnhill, a few kilometres south of Castledermot in Co Kildare. This wider area is well known for being very good land. It’s predominantly tillage. The field in question was in cereals and was reseeded to grass two years ago.

The field has frontage of almost 200m on the local road

To get to Barnhill you go about 2km out the Tullow road from Castledermot – the R418 – and take a local road to the right. The ground is approximately 1.5km up that road. This area benefits from being close to junction 4 on the M9 motorway.

The field has frontage of almost 200m on the local road, seen at the bottom of the picture. Hedges are well maintained and stockproof.

This is high-quality ground with no wastage

The property has been brought to the market by Callan based Barry & Lynch and goes for auction on 20 August 2020 at 3pm in the Mount Wolseley Hotel in Tullow. Auctioneer Michael Barry told us that there has been interest from local farmers and also from potential buyers looking for a smallholding where they could possibly build a house. “This is high-quality ground with no wastage,” he said. The field is being guided at €14,000/ac.
