Translation traineeships

Some of the most recently advertised positions here include translation traineeships, the deadline for which is 15 February, giving interested applicants plenty of time to put together a stellar and convincing application.

These traineeships are three months in duration and the positions are based in Luxembourg. Successful trainees will begin their traineeship on 1 July. In 2014, the remuneration for these positions was €1,223.26 per month.

Graduates with a perfect knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU and a thorough knowledge of two other official EU languages are sought.

It is advised that applicants do not wait until the last day to apply as the system may become overloaded if there is a large volume of applications at that time.

Internships

There are also many internship opportunities available in Europe. The opportunities are as many and varied as the European institutions themselves. One particular internship lists a degree in agriculture and rural development as being among the required disciplines. This is for the position of intern to support the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development in Bonn, Germany.

Along with agriculture and rural development, candidates who have degrees in development studies, communication for development, political science or related fields are also eligible to apply.

This position involves organisation of the Platform’s work, particularly via networking and information sessions, managing content on the website and social media, assisting in the production of an electronic newsletter and more. Basic German language skills are an advantage.

This internship lasts six months, beginning on 18 February, and pay is €950 per month. The closing date for applications is tomorrow, Friday 9 January.

It is stated that this internship is for those who have graduated no longer than six months earlier.

Another intern is sought to assist in the development, implementation and communication of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Digital Economy as well as BASIS (Business Action to Support the Information Society) projects and activities in Paris, France.

Those applying must be currently enrolled in a master’s programmes (or equivalent) in business, political science, law, management, international relations or related disciplines, and will continue to be enrolled during the period of the internship. It is also desired that applicants have experience in logistics/event planning and communications or writing. French is also an advantage.

This paid internship begins on 18 May and lasts for four to six months. Deadline for applications is tomorrow, Friday 9 January.

Another intern is sought within the secretary general’s office of the European Youth Forum in Brussels. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with the communications team and the policy development and advocacy department.

The internship begins in February and lasts for six months. Candidates with an academic background in political science, social science, journalism, communication, law or equivalent are sought.

This is a paid internship and the deadline is tomorrow, Friday 9 January. A congress assistant is sought for the World Congress 2015. This congress is organised by the Local Governments for Sustainability – a global organisation, the members of which represent 20% of the world’s urban population and work on greening their economies and becoming sustainable.

The internship is based in the Capacity Centre at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany.

Candidates with a degree in a relevant area such as event management, hospitality services, public administration and legal studies, environmental management/governance, and social sciences are sought.

It is also desired that applicants have a strong interest in the areas of cities and local government, urban planning and management, and have good organisational skills and communication skills.

Pay ranges between €1,400 and €1,600, the final amount depends on German labour law decisions at the beginning of 2015.

This position begins in January and lasts six months. The deadline for submitting applications is 11 January.
