Knackeries are charging farmers as much as €25 to dispose of fallen ewes.

Knackery charges for calves across the country are ranging from €15 to €25 delivered. An Irish Farmers Journal survey shows collected prices range from €20 to €25.

Older stock over six to 12 months are €50 to €60, with stock 24 to 48 months €100 and over 48 months at €55. Ewes are €20 to €25 delivered to most knackeries.
