Milk production in continental Europe is off to a strong start for 2020.

According to new figures from Eurostat, Dutch milk production for January stood at just under 1.2bn litres, which was up 3.3%, or 37m litres, on the same month last year.

In Poland, January milk production stood at just over 1bn litres, which is up more than 2% on January 2019 milk production.

Strong start

While no official figures for January production are out yet for Germany and France, the two largest milk-producing nations in Europe, reports from both countries also suggests a strong start to the 2020 milk production season.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Europe’s third-largest milk-producing country, January milk collections were down 2% year on year at just over 1.2bn litres.
