Michael Fassender take on the role of Macbeth in the new film adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play. This isn’t one for the faint-hearted as General Macbeth, at the behest of his wife, plots to gain power of the throne over the sitting king, Duncan. He overthrows the incumbent king, but soon becomes overcome with guilt. Marion Cotillard plays the evil Lady Macbeth, while Irish actor Jack Reynor also features. The film was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and has received rave reviews so far.

A performance of The Graduate in Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre in Co Waterford on Saturday 3 October. Curtain Call Productions Dungarvan has brought the iconic play to the stage for the first time in Ireland, and the production promises drama, laughs and shocks. The 14-strong cast is made up of all local talents. To the music of Tommy Fleming at the Friars’ Gate Theatre in Kilmallock, Co Limerick, on Sunday 4 October. Tommy’s concerts include songs such as Danny Boy, Bright Blue Rose and Hard Times, as well as tunes from The West’s Awake, which was released last year. The Sligo native has been performing for 20 years and is still as popular as ever with country music fans. Tickets for the show cost €27.50.

Kerry for the Dingle Food Festival, which takes place in the town from 2-4 October. Over 10,000 visitors are expected to descend on the town for the event to see food demonstrations by chefs such as Neven Maguire and Mark Murphy, participate in workshops and enjoy the west Kerry scenery. One of the highlights of the festival is the Blas na hÉireann Awards, where over 500 of the best food and drink products in Ireland will pass through the final judging stage. Winners will be awarded on Saturday 3 October at the Phoenix Cinema in the town centre.
