The biggest international barbecue competition in the world is set to heat up Limerick’s People’s Park from Friday 13 October to Sunday 15 October.

Whole hogs, smoked ribs, melt-in-the-mouth beef brisket and chargrilled chicken are just some of the meats that will be added to the BBQs in the People’s Park when the city plays host to the World Barbeque Association’s (WBQA) World BBQ Championships 2017.

The three-day festival will see 100 fire chef BBQ teams from 30 countries, including 10 Irish teams, compete for the World BBQ 2017 title.

Up to 40,000 spectators are expected to attend and witness the variety, drama, fun and skill involved in transforming a passion for flame and slow cooking into a sport.
