Paul Nolan of Dawn Meats says Brexit can't make life better. \David Ruffles

Brexit won’t make life better, it can only make life more challenging whatever the outcome is, Paul Nolan group development manager with Dawn Meats has said.
He told the Irish Famers Journal at the Navigating Global Trade conference that over the last couple of years Dawn has been sizing up new markets to deal with the impact of Brexit.
“In that sense preparations are made, but it doesn’t take from the fact that first of all we still don’t know what twists and turns are to come in the Brexit saga. A correction will have to come from somewhere, because we can’t expect the quality of produce we have in this part of the world to be able to compete with sub-standard to that and to be able to do it at their prices.
“Something, literally, will have to give and of course what it means is that there will have to be a correction. Whether that comes from Brussels is the question,” he said.
