Farmers, led by the IFA, took to the streets in rural towns around the country last week
to protest the direction of CAP reform and the climate action bill.
The IFA’s day of action was staged in 30 towns to highlight the importance of agriculture to the rural economy. The next CAP has to deliver a programme that works for farming and supports farmers who produce quality, sustainable food.
The IFA also held a protest outside the Convention Centre while the climate bill was discussed. The organisation wants three issues addressed: credit for carbon removal, avoiding carbon leakage and treating methane differently.
