After a hugely successful year with record sales and large-scale representation at summer shows, the Irish Angus Cattle Society will have what is said to be its biggest and best stand yet at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

Many of the society’s champions from the summer show season, together with the all-Ireland champions both from Iverk and Strokestown Shows, will be on display on the stand throughout the week.

Society representative Yvonne Brady told the Irish Farmers Journal: “The quality of Irish Angus cattle is improving every year and we are looking forward to bringing to the public an outstanding display of pedigree Irish Angus cattle”.

Also at this year’s National Ploughing Championships, the Irish Angus Cattle Society is holding a raffle, which will see a pedigree Angus heifer go up for grabs.

Entry for the raffle is just €2 and for this incredibly easy-to-enter draw, the heifer could be yours.

The society has been very clear in stating that new members are always welcome and that their council members and staff will be on hand to meet the breeders and the wider farming community.

Another huge element to the society is its youth development programme (YDP), which has been going from strength to strength over the past number of years.

There will be representatives from the YDP on the Irish Angus stand throughout the week.

The Irish Angus Cattle Society is also holding its National Calf Show on Sunday 15 October in GVM Mart Tullamore and there will be information about the event available on the stand at the Ploughing.

Other dates for your diary include the Irish Angus Elite Sale which will take place on Saturday 9 December in the Midland and Western Livestock Improvement Society Showgrounds in Carrick-on-Shannon.
