The cold milk is still flowing, the ice cream didn’t melt and the fun continues on the National Dairy Council (NDC) stand at Ploughing 2018.

NDC chief executive Zoe Kavanagh said: “Storm Ali won’t stop us. We have a full programme of activities on the NDC stand today.

"We are just about to have a seminar with our partners Cappagh Hospital and former Dublin football manager Pat O’ Neill will discuss the importance of bone health.

"We also have Tipperary hurling star Brendan Maher and dual Cork star Eoin Cadogan on our stand today to discuss how they use dairy products to refresh and nurture healthy muscles after training.”

Cookery and using dairy products is also a large part of the NDC message at Ploughing 2018 and the cookery social media stars Currabinny (James Kavanagh and William Murray) are set to cook a three-course meal using dairy products this afternoon.

Free inside this week's Irish Farmers Journal, there is a special Focus supplement looking at how Irish dairy farmers are excelling at producing quality milk.

Details of the Quality Milk Awards and how the top dairy farmers are making milk to the highest global standards are discussed, with the overall competition winner to be announced in early October.
