The arrival of storm Ciara and storm Dennis over the past week has resulted in significant rainfall totals across the country.

Across Met Éireann’s weather stations, the average rainfall recorded is 364% of normal levels for the past seven days.

The station at Shannon Airport has seen the most rain in the past week, with 94mm falling. Oakpark in Wexford has recorded the greatest increase compared with normal rainfall at 539%.

Storm Dennis

Approximately 2,400 homes, farms and businesses are without power on Monday morning following storm Dennis. The ESB restored power to the vast majority of people on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the ESB reminded farm families to be vigilant of fallen wires and any other damage to electricity infrastructure. Damage can be reported to 1850 372 999.

The week ahead looks set to remain unsettled. Tuesday will be cold and blustery, with widespread showers in the morning. There will be drier weather in the afternoon, followed by some wintry scattered showers with the risk of hail and thunder.
