The objective of the Irish Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust is to identify future leaders of Irish agriculture and facilitate their ambition to bring about meaningful change for the benefit of their community.

Following a two-stage interview process, the selection panel chose six candidates to receive the award.

Sean Coughlan, Ballina, Co Mayo (sponsored by Aurivo).

Mary Delaney, Crosspatrick, Co Kilkenny (sponsored by FBD).

Joseph Leonard, Stamullen, Co Meath (sponsored by Peter Daly Trust/LIC/Dairymaster).

Finola McCoy, Mullingar, Co Westmeath (sponsored by IFA/Irish Farmers Journal).

Tommy Moyles, Clonakilty, Co Cork (sponsored by Meat Industry Ireland).

Sean O’Brien, Midleton, Co Cork (sponsored by Golden Jubilee Trust).

The new scholars will be introduced at the Nuffield Ireland Annual Conference in Mount Wolseley, Tullow, Co Carlow on Friday 8 November 2013.

Bill O’Keeffe, Chairman of Nuffield Ireland, explained that the scholars will receive a travel bursary of €10,000 to research a topic of their choice.
