Cattle and sheep were a flying trade at Swatragh Mart this week, with a big turnout of buyers driving the trade.

Prices peaked at £1,420 for a 624kg Limousin heifer at Monday’s weekly sale.

Other noted prices saw good-quality lots selling from £1,175 for a 488kg Limousin and £1,130 paid on a 522kg Charolais. Prices generally ranged from 190p to 240p/kg.

Bullocks sold to £1,410 for a 612kg Belgian Blue animal, with £1,370 paid on a 642kg Limousin.

Good-quality forward lots weighing 500kg to 550kg sold from £1,135 to £1,190.

On Saturday, a big entry of 1,600 sheep saw hoggets selling to £120 on several occasions.

Other lots made £110 to £119 for 22kg to 27kg hoggets.

Fat ewes made £111 up to a peak of £136, with breeding sheep making £218 for ewes with twin lambs at foot.
