Industry: Sector manager of pigmeat and poultry, Bord Bia.
First job: Working on the family farm.
Previous jobs: A few. During college I worked with Glanbia and Minch Malt. After college I worked with a bank on hedge funds. It was great until all the money ran out. I joined Bord Bia the week that Lehman Brothers went bust.
Biggest inspiration: My father. He had a great can-do attitude and wasn’t afraid to take risks.
Favourite job: My current one, of course.
Favourite part of your job: The variation of dealing with producers, key stakeholders and client companies always ensures that no day is the same.
Least favourite part of your job: The commute.
Turning point of your career: Working on the home farm and realising there are easier ways of making a living.
Lowest point of your career: Leaving college and going into the big bad world.
Hopes for the future: That Brexit never materialises.
Best advice you could give someone new to the industry: Keep persevering. And back yourself.
