Overall, 885t were offered into intervention, down from 1,011t a week earlier. Latvia offered 467t last week, with the Netherlands putting 418t of SMP into intervention.

Since 27 March, 4,565t of SMP has now been offered into intervention.

Skim milk powder (SMP) prices have remained weak despite a general improvement in dairy markets.

At this week’s GDT auction in New Zealand, whole milk powder (WMP) prices jumped by 5.2% to $3,233/t, representing the fourth consecutive rise in WMP prices at the fortnightly auction.

In contrast, SMP fell back by 0.9% to $1,982/t at the GDT auction. However, SMP prices did increase by 1.16% to €1,750 at this week’s Dutch auction.
