In-lamb ewes hit 20,000gns twice at select seven sale

The well-recognised select seven sale took place in Lanark over the weekend, achieving a top price of 20,000gns twice. Securing the top prices were in-lamb ewes from the Auldhouseburn flock of Alan and Hugh Blackwood. First up was a daughter of the 60,000gns Clinterty Yuga Khan out of a Cowal dam by Kelso Pavarotti. She sold in-lamb to the 130,000gns Sportsmans A Star and was secured by Robert Bennett for the Plasucha flock.

Directly after this lot, Auldhouseburn matched that price again, selling a granddaughter of the same Cowal dam. Also sired by the 60,000gns Yuga Khan, she sold in-lamb to the 125,000gns Best of the Best and was secured by Bruce Renwick, Castlecairn.

Next best and securing a price of 17,000gns was a daughter of the 15,000gns Knock Yardsman from the Clark family. In-lamb to Silvermere Baltic, she was bought by the Blackwood family, reinvesting some of their earlier takings. Top of Procters farm pen achieved a price of 12,000gns. Sired by the 70,000gns Teiglum Younggun, she is out of a dam by Scrogtonhead U Stoater and goes back to the 50,000gns Haddo Ringleader.

This one sold in-lamb to this year’s Solway and Tyne Club sale topper, the 100,000gns Sportsmans Batman, and sold to Mr Boden and Davies for the Sportsmans flock.

From the same pen also came another Younggun daughter, who realised a bid of 11,000gns. Selling in-lamb to the same service sire as the previous, she was the pick of David Morrison.

At the same money and going home with the same buyer was the best of the day from the Ettrick flock of Gordon Gray. Sired by Clinterty Yuga Khan, she is out of a dam by Knock Topaz. She was offered in-lamb to Usk Vale Albatross.
