Irish Distillers will resume whiskey production at its Midleton Distillery in the coming weeks.
Each year the distillery closes for maintenance for approximately one month, but this year the pause in production was extended.
Irish Distillers told the Irish Farmers Journal : “Midleton Distillery paused production in mid-April as part of a routine, periodic review.

“Irish Distillers can confirm that production will recommence in the coming weeks to support the sustainable growth of our portfolio of Irish whiskeys globally.”
Meanwhile, the Malting Company of Ireland received planning permission for its investment project in April.
“The company remains committed to investing in their Cork processing facility and is finalising a timeline for the various elements of the project while considering the current market dynamic,” it said.
Demand for malting barley has been impacted by concern around whiskey sales and changes to tariffs from the US, Ireland’s biggest export market for whiskey.
