In what will be one of the last shipments of cattle from Ireland to Turkey this year, a livestock carrier is due to dock next week. The Sarah livestock carrier is expected to arrive in Waterford next Tuesday with the load being organised by Purcell Brothers.
The company is expected to fill the ship with 1,200 young feeder bulls. The cattle are completing quarantine, the Irish Farmers Journal understands. The loading of the bulls is done to the highest safety standards and can take a few days to complete.
This could well be the final boatload of heavy bulls heading to Turkey this year with no confirmation yet of new contracts for Irish cattle to Turkey for 2018.
