Westmeath IFA elected Bernie MacCarthy as its new chair on Tuesday night.
In a statement on social media MacCarthy thanked Kenneth Bray for his work in the role over the last four years.
"I am honored and humbled to be selected as the first female chairperson for Westmeath IFA. Looking forward to the next four years as a voice for farmers," MacCarthy wrote.
The new chair is a nurse and farmer, breeding Aberdeen Angus. She is also the Westmeath representative on the IFA's animals health committee.
