Individual awards of up to €2,000 are on offers to winners of the new Together for Biodiversity Awards.

The awards have been launched by the Irish Wildlife Trust and the Department of Heritage and are sponsored by Dublin Port.

Farmers, community groups, schools and individuals are all invited to enter the awards and showcase the efforts they’ve made to nurture biodiversity in their local community.

“The Together for Biodiversity Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the wealth of work being done at local level to protect wildlife and create and restore habitats across Ireland,” Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan said.

The coordinator of Irish Wildlife Trust, Kieran Flood, said that the awards gave an opportunity to showcase “local biodiversity champions”.

Winners will be announced next February as part of the National Biodiversity Conference.
