All milk purchasers will pay at least 30c/l for June milk following Glanbia's increase in its base milk price by 1.68cpl to 29.68cpl, the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) has said.
Chair of ICMSA’s dairy committee, Ger Quain, said: “It was good see the biggest processor of milk in Ireland stepping forward in this way and paying a market-derived price. The new total of 30.1cpl is now in line with the market returns and expectations.”

Quain has requested that Glanbia ensure the milk price increase is not a "once-off", while also calling for the processor to lead the way in pushing the milk price upwards in the coming months.
Serious questions
Quain continued: “ICMSA hopes other co-ops step up and increase their milk price now and follow the path of Lakeland and Glanbia. The other co-ops are due to set their milk price in the coming week and very serious questions will be asked of any processor which does not come up to the 30c per litre price.”
