Friday

Kicking off a run of sales is the Irish Angus Munster branch autumn sale in Kilmallock on Friday evening.

The branch ran the sale last year after a break of a number of years, and the Friday evening slot was met with a packed ringside to sell to a top of €3,500.

This year, 24 heifers make their way to the Limerick Mart alongside a further nine bulls. The show takes place at 5pm, with the sale following at approximately 6.30pm.

Saturday

This Saturday stands as one of the busiest of the year, with three breeds premier sales taking centre-stage.

In Roscommon, the Shorthorn breed host its main sale of the year which has this year attracted 50 heifers and 17 bulls.

Last year, trade was tough for the bulls but lucrative for the females, with 90% selling to a top of €4,500.

The show for this year’s sale takes place at 9.30am, with the sale at 12 noon.

The Irish Aberdeen Angus Association also hosts its premier autumn sale this Saturday in the Carrick-on-Shannon Showgrounds.

The association first launched this sale last year and saw bulls sell to €4,000.

Numbers have increased on 2016 levels, with 22 bulls and 17 heifers now catalogued. Show starts at 11am with the sale at 1pm.

The final pedigree cattle sale to take place on Saturday is the Irish Charolais cattle society’s Elite Heifer sale.

This is the first year the society has run the sale, as they are now only allowing males enter the Christmas Cracker.

This means that 111 of the best females available in Ireland will be in Tullamore this Saturday. The show takes place at 10am, while the sale is at 12.30pm.

In sheep circles, all will be heading to Tullow Mart this Saturday for the dispersal of two pedigree Charollais flocks and a production sale of another.

These flocks are the D83 Cloughbally flock and the Haggard flock with a production sale of 20 quality ewes from the F62 Wexfo flock. The sale comprises of 93 sheep forward and kicks off at 12.30pm.
