NFU Scotland has reported an operating surplus of nearly £200,000 for the year ended 31 October 2020, largely down to savings forced by COVID-19 restrictions.

Since February, face-to-face meetings have been suspended and attendance at national and regional events cancelled.

As a result, spending has fallen from £3.2m down to £2.99m in the last financial year.

Affinity income generated from the wide range of member services and discounts has continued to grow and in 2020 stood at £170,000 compared to £145,000 in 2019. Meanwhile, the annual donation from the NFU Mutual rose by £16,000 to £586,000

However, the main income stream is from membership, and in 2020 a total of 8,812 members paid just under £2.3m in subscriptions.
