Brazil – record beef exports for October

Brazilian beef exporters shipped more than 160,000t of beef to world markets in the month of October, which is an 18% increase year on year. This brings Brazilian beef exports for the first 10 months of 2019 (Jan-Oct) to a cumulative 1.2m tonnes, which is 11% ahead of last year.

America – Ban on Brazilian beef continues

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recommended that the US continues to uphold its ban on imports of Brazilian beef. The USDA recently carried out inspections of five Brazilian meat plants and found ‘non-conformities’ in food safety standards.

Australia – beef exports to China rise

For the month of October, Australia exported more than 30,700t of beef to China, a 93% increase on the same month last year. This is the first time in history that Australia has exported more than 30,000t of beef to China in a single month.

Ireland – September milk production flat-lines

Irish milk production for September stood at just under 720m litres, which was flat compared with the same month last year. For the first nine months of 2019 (Jan-Sept), Irish milk production stands at a cumulative 6.7bn litres, which is 8% ahead of the same period last year.
