Lamb prices:

There is a more positive tone to the lamb market this week, with factories paying €4.70 to €4.80/kg to get lambs and offers of up to €5.00/kg being made. The IFA met with lamb factories and MII last week to make clear that recent price cuts were unacceptable, warning that prices must be restored to viable levels to prevent undermining of the market.

Dairy intervention:

At the Teagasc Open Day in Moorepark last week, IFA president Eddie Downey called on Minister Simon Coveney to ensure that the EU Commission fulfils its obligations by reviewing dairy intervention prices. He said that with the pressure on milk prices intensifying, a revaluation is well overdue. Updates available at www.ifa.ie

Farm safety day:

The IFA farm safety day will take place again this year on 21 July. On that day, IFA is encouraging all farm families to set time aside to focus on farm safety and to review their farm’s risk assessment. Mark the date in your calendar and look out for more information at www.ifa.ie.
