"Numbers are running well ahead of this time last year, although last year was an exception, as, after the BREXIT vote, farmers held off from buying or selling until later to see where the trade would go. In terms of last week’s sale, there were plenty of store cattle on offer. Farmers are buying a little earlier this year also, which has kept prices firm. Last week would have seen a slight slip in the quality of cattle on offer, but prices were only back by a cent or two on the week before. All good-quality stores were steady on the week before. Weanlings were a good trade again, with feeders and farmers the main buyers on the day. Exporters were present also."
