The Irish Angus Cattle Society held their all-Ireland finals once again at Strokestown show over the weekend. Not even a wet finish to the day was enough to deter the day’s class winners parading in front of judge Pat Murphy for the championship finale. It proved a particularly rewarding day for Gerard Kilgallon, Claremorris, Co. Mayo who came up trumps with his five-year-old cow Mayo Karin. This big stylish cow is sired by former stock bull Westellen Grandslam and goes back on a homebred Priestown Tornado-sired cow. This cows epitomises many of the Angus traits, been incredibly easy fleshed with an exceptional head. This marks the pinnacle of Karin’s success, with other local show championships also under her belt.
