This is beef country. Indeed, one in four hamburgers eaten in the USA come from cattle produced in Nebraska – the area is known as America’s bread basket.

Those involved in beef production cite environmental restrictions, taxes and poor beef prices as their biggest peeves at present, and believe that US President-elect Donald Trump understands them and will make changes for the better.

Even among the most well-educated and eloquent individuals, Trump was the only ticket in town.

Of course, they acknowledge his crude nature and shortcomings – with one farmer even going so far as to say he “can’t stand him”. Yet in a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea, he was the obvious candidate. Most are sick of the “institution”, hungry for change and see Trump as a means to get things done.
