The Irish Grain and Feed Association had its annual dinner last week, as ever an enjoyable bash. The main course choices were pork and fish – no beef was offered. The pig sector is one of the main users of high-grain feed, so the presence of pork was absolutely appropriate. That said, grain farmers are offering their fulsome support to the Save Our Sucklers campaign, because of the close links between the grain and drystock sectors. I’m assured the fish were barley-fed.
