KR Queen 8213, donated to the Angus foundation by Krebs Ranch, achieved the top price of $65,000 at a sale held in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show in Denver on Friday.

The January 2018 born-heifer is a daughter of Basin Payweight, while the dam is a daughter of SAV Final Answer.

This stylish young heifer was donated to the Angus foundation by Eldon and Louisa Krebs.

The foundation was founded in 1980 for the purpose of advancing education, youth and research for the benefit of the Angus breed and agricultural industry.

Promoting education

Since its establishment, the American Angus association has helped Angus youths afford college education.

This follows a similar route as the entire national western livestock show, which sees all proceeds from the 16-day event go towards youth scholarships.

The heifer was just one of a number of lots offered for the foundation, with a number of recipients carrying embryos also offered.

Many of these buyers would be graduates from the association's youth programme, so give generously win it comes to bidding.

These lots kicked off the national western Angus bull sale, which saw 30 bulls sell for over $5,000 average.

Top of these lots was 2k Patriot 298, which sold for $13,000, purchased by Utah-based Shander Angus.

The pre-sale show champion WAF Collusion 703 from Weaver Angus Farm hit the market at $6,000.

Matching him at the money was the reserve champion DAJS AH Explorer 308.
