The calf trade has become a little more difficult in the past week, with prices easing further.
Young Friesian bulls from two to three weeks of age are selling mainly from €20 to €30/head.
In some sales, prices are slightly lower, mainly due to weaker export demand.
Three-week-old Friesian bull calves are selling mainly from €40 to €50/head, with stronger four-week-old calves from €50 to €60/head.
There are some sales where good-quality aged bulls are making up to €100, with farmer buyers the main source of demand.
Angus heifers are selling from €80 to €120/head, with bulls from €120 to €150/head.
Hereford heifers are selling from €20 to €30/head more than Angus calves, with bulls selling for €30 to €40/head more than the equivalent Angus bull.
