Marion Beecher conducted a survey among 500 teenagers earlier in 2018 to gauge their attitude to dairy farming.

She said that income and time off were ranked highest by the students as being important factors when choosing a career. Time off at the weekend was the preference for 61% of students and 69% agreed or strongly agreed that working hours were too long in dairy farming.

Marion said that the main influence on career choice is parents, with 66% of respondents saying their parents have the biggest influence on them.
