"Farmers unable to meet the deadline must be given a grace period."

The IFA has reminded farmers of the approaching deadlines for key measures in both the BDGP one and BEEP-S schemes.
Farmers in BDGP one must have 50% of the reference number of females that are at least 16 months of age and have been born during or after 2013 meeting the four- or five-star requirement by 31 October.

For BEEP-S, applicants must have the weighing component and the faecal egg count, if chosen, completed by 1 November.
The IFA has suggested flexibility is required from the Department on these deadlines, taking into account disruption caused by COVID-19 controls and concerns of some farmers around attending marts.
IFA livestock chair Brendan Golden said: "It is important payments are issued on time to all those meeting the requirements.
"For farmers who are unable to do so, the Department must provide a period of grace, taking into account the unique situation that farmers have had to deal with this year."
