The Cooney Furlong Machinery Company was set to broaden its portfolio to the public at the Ploughing, should the event have gone ahead.

Founded in 2014, the southeast machinery dealership had been announced as the sole Irish importer for Goweil machinery earlier this year.

G-1 F125

One unit which was set to make its public debut was the G-1 F125 fixed-chamber round baler.

Equipped with a 2.2m camless pickup with six tine bars, this unit is centrally pendulum suspended.

It is fitted with two crop press rollers and a mechanically driven (hydraulically assisted) infeed roller to pre-compress the crop.

A six-star rotor feeds the grass up and over the rotor instead of under it like most balers on the market. The cutting unit is fitted with 30 twin-edge knives (35mm theoretical chop length).

The bale chamber comprises of 18 rollers (4mm thick), which offers a bale size of 1.2mx1.25m.

Two drive rollers with a shaft diameter of 65mm and the additional roller shafts with a diameter of 60mm run on double-row pendulum roller bearings.

Net and film binding is standard, while a dual binding option is available. A hydraulically powered drive axle comes as an optional extra. Isobus comes as standard, while operators can also choose from a 4.3in or 7in touch display monitor.

The list price for the G-1 F125 is €64,000 plus VAT.

CrossCutter disc

The firm had planned the Irish launch of the Vaderstad Carrier with the new Crosscutter disc at the Ploughing.

Due to its shape and high-quality Swedish steel, the CrossCutter disc provides full cultivation and intensive mixing at shallow working depths.

Each disc is mounted on its own rubber suspended disc arm. Vaderstad claims this allows for better penetration and improves its ability to follow the ground.

The discs are mounted on a parallel linkage, which gives an even working angle, irrespective of the working depth.

The conical shape of the disc produces a fine tilth and mixes residues evenly.

Its shape also gives the same working angle throughout its working life. Vadersdad recommends that the disc be used at speeds up to 15km/h for high output.

Claimed advantages of CrossCutter disc over conventional wave discs:

  • The thickness of the CrossCutter disc profile is 11.5cm, compared with the industry standard 5cm.
  • CrossCutter disc works at ultra-shallow depths of 2cm to 3cm.
  • The disc angle is optimised to maximise results.
