People with a yen for getting into pedigree Limousin cattle would have had a chance to get value at the Irish Limousin Society’s final two shows and sales of bulls in Tullow and females in Roscrea.

Quality animals with good pedigrees went through the rings at what looked like reasonable prices.

The Roscrea sale, with a large choice of very well-bred and presented heifers on offer, achieved a 45% clearance, with prices ranging from €1,800 to €5,300.

Topping the sale was the much-admired 14-month-old Wilodge Vantastic daughter Drummin Im 2 Sexy Et, bred by John McInerney, Newmarket-On-Fergus, which boasts a muscle score of 136 and a skeletal score of 142.

She was a multi-show winner in 2014 and sold to Joseph Rafferty, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, and was purchased for €5,300.

Tullow

At the bull sale in Tullow, there was a 58% clearance. The sale was populated with bulls that looked good both in figures and in the flesh.

Top price of €3,700 was paid for Baileys Irish Coffee, bred by Tom Bailey in Meath. Reserve champion in the pre-sale show, the bull was bought by Victor Dunne from Gorey. Second prize-winner from Dan Tynan’s herd sold for €3,600 to Carlow farmer Trevor Corrigan.

The Champion bull in Tullow was Murroe Inver, bred by Tommy Claffey, Ballinagore, Co Westmeath. He sold for €3,400 to Cecil Power.
