John Deere sprayer experts are touring the country this week in a Crop Care programme that highlights the benefits of their M700 series and M900 series trailed sprayer range.

Mark James, sprayer specialist at John Deere, is leading the programme with local dealer support. Mark, along with Charles Gray, also from John Deere, started the countrywide tour with Hanlon Machinery in Dundalk at the beginning of the week.

Hanlons brought customers to the first afternoon event where Mark James explained the benefits of the John Deere offering.

The entry-level M700 Series sprayers are designed for tillage farmers in the 1,000ac to 1,200ac scale and are the most popular sprayer range that John Deere sells across Europe.

The four separate models in the M700 Series range differ mainly in terms of tank capacity. Tank sizes range from 2,400l to 4,000l.

What is common across the range is the pump capacity at 280l/min and the 400l rinse tank. All four versions are built around the same chassis structure and use a similar boom structural configuration. Boom options range from 18m to 30m.

Two sprayers are on display for all of the John Deere Crop Care events, an M740i version and a larger M952i model. Most emphasis was on the 740i model with a 24m-wide double fold mild steel boom.

This boom is based around a Z-bar type lifting system to keep it close to the rear of the sprayer. John Deere also claims that this gives greater boom stability.

John Deere also claims that its boom height sensor, which operates its Terrain ControlPro and Active Centre Frame Control systems, use sensors that are solely designed for use with the sprayer.

This means that in hybrid mode, the system measures the crop height as well as the height of the boom over the ground to give more accurate boom height control.

Sectional control is also part of the John Deere M700 Series sprayer offering along with the tractor’s Multifunction Control system, removing the need for additional modules on John Deere tractors. The sprayer was been demonstrated using the 6155R’s control features.

Entry list prices for the John Deere M700 Series sprayer range start from €35,000 plus VAT.
