A new EU budget will not be agreed before next October. The budget for 2021-2027 was expected during the lifetime of the current parliament.

The revelation came from MEP Eric Andrieu, rapperteur on CAP for the parliament’s ag committee, at a press conference. He said this will impact on the current Parliament’s ability to progess elements of the future CAP. Elections take place next May, and with no defined budget, the current Parliament will be unlikely to approve a final deal before Commissioner Phil Hogan’s current terms ends.
