The possible successor to Jean-Claude Juncker visited a Wexford dairy farm last Friday to hear first-hand about the fall-out from Brexit.

Manfred Weber leads the European People’s Party in the European parliament, and is its candidate to become president of the European Commission.

“I’m here to get an understanding of what Brexit really means,” he said, adding that he now understood the meat market “is totally in disorder”.

“Europe is close, and Europe is listening, the Irish problems are problems for all of Europe, we all are Irish in a way.”
